Joel A. Hartwell Community Service Award

Good news for young volunteers in Dundas!

The Joel A. Hartwell Community Service Award is presented annually to one GRADUATING high school student residing in the Dundas community, or attending a Dundas Secondary School.The student must demonstrate through voluntary contributions, particularly in a leadership capacity, a commitment to help make the Dundas community a better place to live. Examples of qualifying contributions include voluntary work, past and present, at school, church or community organizations.

The Award was established in 1992 by Dundas Community Services to commemorate the achievements in community work of Dundas resident, Joel Arthur Hartwell, F.C.A. (1916 - 1991) which took place over a span of 45 years.

Nomination forms are available in March and due in May of each year; the forms may be picked up either at the schools' guidance departments or directly from the offices of Dundas Community Services at 2 King Street West, Suite 3A, Dundas. Students may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else who is familiar with their volunteer contributions. Please include a brief description of the voluntary contributions. Those chosen will be interviewed by the award committee of Dundas Community Services.

A commemorative certificate along with a $200.00 cash award will be presented at the graduating ceremonies of the recipient's school.
