Drivers Needed To Assist Local Seniors

Educators and others with free time this summer are needed to assist seniors in our community. Dundas Community Services provides transportation to medical appointments for seniors and disabled adults in Dundas. The program is designed to assist seniors to stay in their own homes longer and remain independent.

Volunteer drivers, using their own vehicles, pick-up the client at their home, escort them to the appointment and return them to their home. The volunteer driver is usually called once a week. Of course, if the volunteer would like to commit to drive more often, that could be arranged. Volunteer Barb, retired administrative assistant, said “I volunteer for Dundas Community Services to give back to the community. I find it a great opportunity to meet interesting people, forge new friendships and to make a difference to someone else’s life”

The program is very flexible and works around shifts for people who are still employed. It is perfect for recent retirees, teachers and stay at home parents wanting to make a contribution to the community.
